Yoyoy: Satiristang Bisaya, in collaboration with Pitik Bulag, #FactsFirstPH, DAKILA, and Jose T. Joya Gallery, invites artists to submit their entries to the 4th edition of Cebu Lampoon Festival. The theme of the said festival is “Disarming Disinformation: Fighting Fake News & Historical Revisionism.”
Interested artists from around the world can join in two categories: Open Category (newspaper mainstay or freelance cartoonists) and Student Category (junior high school and college students).
The selected 100 cartoons from each category will be part of the physical exhibition, which will be held this coming March 15-22, 2024 in Jose T. Joya Gallery, University of the Philippines Cebu.
The official email for all submissions is firstname.lastname@example.org. Aside from one official entry, artist shall write their category and personal profile. For those who will be joining under the Student Category, they should also include the name of the school or university they are currently in. Deadline for the submission will be on February 20, 2024.
There will be no monetary award given to the selected entries for exhibition. However, a digital certificate will be given. Also, the organizers of the exhibition reserves the right to use the submitted entries for promotional purposes. Nevertheless, the rights for the cartoon remains to their respective artists.
Aside from physical exhibition, there will be additional exciting events in the 4th Cebu Lampoon Festival, such as the Visayas-leg of “Political Ang Komiks” Talk by DAKILA and an inaugural award for the best cartoonists of Cebu-based student publications. The details of these aforementioned events will be announced in the Cebu Lampoon Festival‘s social media page in the coming weeks.
Yoyoy: Satiristang Bisaya, which has been around for seven years, is a group of Visayan satirists and cartoonists. They were able to successfully hold two physical cartoon exhibitions in 2018 and 2019 and a virtual exhibition in 2020.
